TUNNEL VISION: ARE YOU RUNNING FROM YOUR FEARS?

Do you ever feel that you are not completely happy, that you are not able to feel joy in all areas of your life? Do you ever limit yourself to certain activities because you fear the break in your mundane routine? Do you limit your way of thinking for fear of feeling uncomfortable?

Unless one is fully living the self-actualized life, we all have fears that we are running from in life. Some may be so small, but still affect how we think, feel, and react.  We may not even notice that these fears are affecting the quality of our lives.  Other fears are so significant, that we can’t ignore the symptoms. We feel the unhappiness, we feel the sense of inadequacy, we may even be questioning our course in life.  We may, in fact, even feel fearful. Fearful of what life is bringing our way, fearful of what might happen, fearful of what others might think, fearful of what will be if we succumb to this thing which we ourselves are fearful of.

Once we acknowledge our fear, we have two courses of action.  We can face the fear itself, or we can keep on running. If we face the fear and begin to accept, understand and resolve the fear, we can begin to put aside the restrictions and limitations that the fear holds on us and begin to look at things differently. We are able to take all the fear we had inside of us and replace the space with joy and love. Think of driving thru a dark tunnel, where your vision has been limited. When you get halfway through, you are at the darkest point. But when you keep traveling through the midway point, the light gets brighter and you feel more energetic. When you emerge out the other side of the tunnel, you are in total light and warmth from the sun.  You have conquered your fear and you feel good!

When we begin to love ourselves again, we open ourselves up to new thoughts and entertain new ideas which may alter our original path in ways we might never have imagined. New doors open during the healing process. Only then can we grow as individuals to unlock the great person you always had within you.

In a new play by debuting at Carnegie Stage, Tunnel Vision, by Andrea Lepcio, two women are running from something in their past. By chance, the two women encounter each other and through role playing, help each other to unlock the secrets of their past in the hopes to widen their vision of life and to enjoy the love and joy afforded to them by their newly found vision.  To find out the joys these two women experienced by facing their fears, purchase tickets to this funny, charming play, Tunnel Vision.
