Welcome The Rain - A Pittsburgh Cabaret Show for Everyone

Image
Stop on in at Carnegie Stage and experience the bluesy jazz singer Rebecca Covert.  In this single-woman cabaret show, Rebecca bares all.  Her soul that is!  This cabaret is titled ‘ Welcome the Rain .’  Who hasn’t experienced a setback or two in life?  Our lives are not perfect and sometimes it takes a storm for us to recognize the beauty within and around us.  What happens after a storm? Peace, clarity, contentment. This is Rebecca’s most honest and raw performance y et.  If you’ve heard Rebecca before, you know she can fill the room with her bluesy voice. She can also make you laugh, bring tears to your eyes, and move you.  So being that this is her most personal show to date, you can darn well bet that this cabaret performance will not only be fun and entertaining, it will also be touching.  And that my friends, is quite the bang for your buck.  With ONLY TWO performances , grab your tickets now before it’s too late....

THE WONDERFUL RUN OF FIREWALL DANCE THEATER’S ‘ADMISSION’

Image
It’s been a wonderful run! Admission, the most recent fireWALL production on our stage, not only was an amazingly powerful dance performance, it exemplified the very existence of off the WALL (Carnegie Stage) Performing Arts Center! A central theme of our mission is to nurture, challenge, inspire and empower women theater artists, and this production did just that! TO NURTURE, CHALLENGE, INSPIRE AND EMPOWER WOMEN THEATER ARTISTS Promote women in theater and the arts: Six vibrant young women were the stars of Admission. Four were local artists, and two joined us from New York City. Provide a fair wage to working artists: An often unknown, and in some cases overlooked fact, is that theater and dance artists too often work for very low wages or no wages at all. Off the WALL believes that artists are entitled to earn a living wage. Promote empowerment: Female empowerment was the theme of Admission. The act of coming to recognize the frustrations, to overcome inhibitions as one st...

Some researchers think laughter just might be the best medicine, helping you feel better and putting that spring back in your step.” R. Morgan Griffin / Web MD Feature ‘Give Your Body a Boost – With Laughter‘ So why do I share this information with you? Because The Harvey WALLbangers are back on stage!! And this time they are performing not one, not two, not three, but FOUR times. We heard you loud and clear… “We Want More! We Want More! We Want More!” So if you’re looking for the...

A Feminine Ending – The Play and Cast Reviewed!

Image
Erika Cuenca - Photo by Heather Mull In a review   by Pittsburgh City Paper, Ted Hoover takes a look at our local premiere of A Feminine Ending. He gets right down to the basics and ponders the need for the play. The play is based on the story of young Amanda Blue, an aspiring musician in the man’s world of composing. Amanda is torn between giving up her dreams to marry her almost famous fiancé, Jack.  Her mother, having had to face the same crossroads over twenty years prior, thinks Amanda is choosing the wrong road. As Mr. Hoover points out, it’s been 40 years since the feminist movement inundated society with movies, TV shows, and lots of print. So why is a play about a woman trying to have it all still compelling? Will this same storyline ring true a few decades from now? We would hope the answer is no, that women will be able to find their authentic selves without having to sacrifice a relationship or career. But in the meantime, you’ll find this play to not only be...
