LET’S PRETEND. WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE?
Let’s pretend we have a week of no rain. Let’s pretend we have a week of sun. Let’s pretend we’re in the eye of a storm. Let’s pretend we’re atop a mountain, feeling the trembling of the beginnings of an avalanche. Let’s pretend we’re in a sunny spot. Let’s pretend we’re in a dessert place with a monsoon on its way. The weather varies greatly in different parts of the world, offering a variety of experiences. The weather can be so unpredictable. Sometimes it’s beautiful when it was supposed to rain. Sometimes a storm hits from nowhere. Wouldn’t it be nice to sometimes be more spontaneous, a bit unpredictable ourselves? Like a ray of sun after a storm or perhaps just once, like the storm itself. What would that feel like?
Let’s pretend we are someone we are not. Let’s pretend we can be anyone. Let’s pretend we can experience life from another’s perspective. What would it be like to experience daily prejudice? What would it be like to live with a parent with a chronic condition? What would it be like to be driven by our own fears? What would it be like to live in a different historical period? What would it be like to love someone, the wrong someone? What would it be like to ________(you fill in the blank)?
Wouldn’t it be nice to sometimes forget about our own world, our own challenges and ourselves? Wouldn’t it be nice to experience the world through the eyes of another? Wouldn’t it be nice to experience a level of unpredictability, unpredictability like the weather? If everything were predictable, life would be boring. Life would not be exciting. It would be lacking. Life would not be full. So if you’re looking for a bit of excitement, an opportunity to leave your worries behind for a short bit, an opportunity to experience life through the eyes of another, or perhaps even a chance to get out of the rain or sunshine, whichever it may be, theater is your answer. It’s your chance to ‘live’ an experience that may seem a world away, but in reality may be closer than you think.
And not to be biased, but for the best Pittsburgh Theater experience, we suggest our small, intimate theater where you’re never more than a few rows from the actors themselves. We’re one of the few theaters in the Pittsburgh area with professional actors. Only 6 miles from downtown, parking in the evenings and weekends is free. Rain or shine, we look forward to your visit.
