MY JOURNEY OF FOUR COUNTS OF EIGHT

Admission, our current dance production conceived and choreographed by Elisa-Marie Alaio, promises to be another success for our talented fireWALL dance troupe. Based on the theme of women empowerment, Admission explores the battles that women face, the spirit of women lifting one another up, and both the similarities and the uniqueness of women.

But success doesn’t come easy. The dancers have been hard at work for months. So how does “My Journey of Four Counts of Eight” come into play? Having sat in various rehearsals, these few words sum up the dancers’ dedication to perfection. For every small segment, the dancers will work, rework, collaborate and rework that segment again until it perfectly represents their vision.

My Journey of Four Counts of Eight
During one particular rehearsal, the dancers worked 32 counts (four counts of eight) over and over to get it ‘just right’ – so “My Journey of Four Counts of Eight” represents

One, the focus on every detail in each of the individual dancers’ movements.

Two, the obsession paid to every nuance in facial expression, angle of hands, and positioning of body in relation to the story being told.

Three, the meticulous and artistic choreographing of the dancers as a group in relation to the music, the audience and the story.

Four, the troupe’s commitment to deliver an artistic and powerful performance that is sure to move the audience.

“Four Counts of Eight”, a mere 32 counts within the entire show, yet a journey in and of itself. Why such a big deal about such a small segment of the performance? Because only the best is acceptable to these dancers dedicated to telling an important story through movement.  Come enjoy this incredible dance performance. May 29th to June 6th only.
