Pittsburgh Arts and Theater in Carnegie

The cultural and entertainment industry is thriving in the Pittsburgh area, and that includes the arts such as theater, dance and cabaret. CARNEGIE STAGE hosts all of these forms of art on our small, intimate stage, as well as sketch comedy performances.  If you enjoy the up-close and personal experience of live theater and haven’t experienced CARNEGIE STAGE, we invite you to join us at one of our upcoming productions.

Our great fortune continues with the renaissance of Carnegie. Sometimes it seems as if new businesses are opening their doors monthly, if not even more frequently. A few of the newest businesses include The Flying Squirrel (ice cream and nostalgia items), Bakn, Ooh La La and Eccentricity Designs. Then there are the businesses that moved in just before Carnegie began gaining so much attention, including Modern Mercantile PGH, More Than Words, and 131 East.  And let’s not forget the businesses whom, no pun intended, weathered storms and floods and have been the backbone of what Carnegie is today. These include PaPa J’s, Riley’s Pour House, and Hanna’s Clothing. This is by no means a full list of all the wonderful businesses and organizations in Carnegie, but gives you an idea of the exciting things happening. You can learn more about all of the Carnegie businesses on the CCDC Business Directory at carnegiepa.net.

Carnegie also boasts a variety of cultural venues, including the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall, which hosts a variety of performing arts shows in their music hall, including performances by Stage 62 and other performing arts groups. The building also houses the Etsy Post, a civil war room which draws national attention. The Indian Community Center also offers a number of cultural events throughout the year, and will be hosting the exciting Festival of Colors this April. Carnegie is also home of the 3rd Street Art Gallery and has its own Carnegie Arts Initiative (CAI).  There’s also The Clay Place, which offers a variety of workshops and exhibitions. This list is not inclusive, but gives you an idea of the great cultural & art ventures taking place throughout Carnegie.

Carnegie, along with the city of Pittsburgh and the entire Pittsburgh Theater district, truly is happening. If you’re not already doing so, follow the Carnegie’s Happening Facebook page for ongoing community and business updates. It is simply an honor to be part of the thriving Pittsburgh Theater scene, and we invite you to come and enjoy all that Carnegie has to offer.

CARNEGIE STAGE is a multi-purpose, cross discipline performance space, providing artists of varying genres unique opportunities to create new and exciting works. It is available for rent for performances, rehearsals, readings, special events, and more. Learn more about renting CARNEGIE STAGE.
