Was it a Dream? Robyne Parrish Reflects on The Zero Hour

Robyne Parrish - Director of The Zero Hour
Robyne Parrish, director of The Zero Hour, woke up this morning wondering if those reviews were real or if they were just a dream.  Robyne, we have news for you.  Those reviews were real!

Here’s a quick recap of a few:

“I give the cast and crew high marks for an emotionally moving and intellectually stimulating performance.” Rick D’Loss of The Carnegie Shul

“The play was warm, compelling, provocative, very funny with some piercing sadness and exceedingly well done.” Maggie Forbes, Executive Director at Andrew Carnegie Free Library

“I find it exhilarating to see theater whose artifice is transparent, as here… Quick costume changes take place on stage. The same person plays many roles. It’s a stunt, in a way, like watching the Cirque de Soleil of acting. But the level of acting here goes beyond virtuosity.”  Arlene Weiner of the Coal Hill Blog

"Madeleine George's 2010 play, directed here by Robyne Parrish, moves quite briskly and conquers its many demands." Michelle Pilecki of the Pittsburgh City Paper

The Zero Hour is a challenging play to stage.  There are on-stage costume changes, the need for quick character transitions, prolific lines for 2 actors to memorize with no breaks, and frequent lighting and sound effect changes throughout the entire play.  Therefore, I’d like to give a very special thanks to Robyne Parrish for her brilliant directing.  A special callout to Kim Crawford and the entire stage and technical crew for bringing the play alive through staging, sound effects and lighting.  And a stupendous ovation to Erika Cuenca, Daina Michelle Griffith, and John Steffenauer for their amazing acting. But most of all, a BIG HUGE THANKS TO YOU, our fans, for attending this production. We hope you enjoyed the play and learned a little along the way. Stay tuned as we prepare for our next production, Well, by Lisa Kron, which opens on December 13th.
