PITTSBURGH THEATER: SHE’S BAAACCCKKK!

We are thrilled to announce that Linda Haston will be directing The Whale, our fourth and final production of the 2014-15 theater season. She brings a vibrant energy and years of experience to the stage. A true professional at heart, Linda is a member of the Actors Equity Association, a teaching artist, an actor and a director. Linda has been involved with off the WALL Theater for many years. Besides acting in The Club, Stop Kiss, Without Ruth, and most recently Well, she has also directed the following productions at our theater:

Straightening Combs
Season’s Greetings…!
And Baby Makes Seven
The Club
Four Dogs and a Bone
How I Learned to Drive

Always having the community in mind, Linda was actively involved in helping to institute the Heinz Endowment Culturally Responsive Arts in Education (CRAE) Program for five public schools in the Pittsburgh area. This amazing program teaches leadership skills and appreciation of the arts to students while simultaneously promoting a positive racial identity. The program is the culmination of partnerships among art specialists, teaching artists and teachers to instruct the students using arts related to the African Diaspora.

“The best thing about being an actress and director in Pittsburgh is its community of professional theater artists.”
Linda Haston in an Interview with Trib Live

In 2009, Linda stated in an interview with the Trib Live that she’d like to make a complete living from performing and directing. We’re happy to have been a part of Linda’s success in achieving her dream.

THE WHALE

The Whale is the story of a 600-pound man in his quest to reconcile with his teenage daughter and to save his own life.  Filled with despair and anguish, his only and best friend is his nurse.  This wonderful play is about overcoming guilt, accepting compassion and working towards reconciliation.
